On Good Friday at around 1 AM, men in the town of Infanta, Quezon don their “saya,” hold their “panyabat” and wear the “tukarol” as they embark on their annual self mortification of flagellation. Unlike the ones practiced in the rest of the country, their elaborate costumes and spectacular floral headress set them apart in this ritual of faith.
