About
Hi, I am Estan Cabigas, a Filipino freelance photographer and writer based in Makati City.My ethnicity is a mixture of Filipino, Chinese and a minority, the Subanen tribe of Western Mindanao. I call Cebu as my permanent home, studied in Manila, worked in the cities of Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Makati, the Philippines. I was a telecoms engineer for nine years and in 2006 pursued my interest in Photography.My work has been exhibited in major cities in South and Southeast Asia, Germany and the Netherlands as well as attended local and international photography workshops. I have been the principal photographer of two coffeetable books, contributed for CNN Go, Geo (Germany), the Sunday Times Magazine and an image published in the May 2010 issue of the National Geographic Magazine. I also teach Photography at the De La Salle University, Manila and handles workshops for the University of the Philippines Film Institute.
I’m also a blogger, traveler, heritage advocate and beetle collector
