A day before the old Lumbia Airport closes for good, I was able to fly out enroute to Cebu. Think of memories coming and going at Cagayan de Oro City’s only airport for years and you can reminisce.

With Laguindingan Airport, which is bigger, more spacious but farther out of Cagayan de Oro City, opening today, the old Lumbia Airport will, at least, be transformed into a military camp, or, as one told me, another mall. Depends on who ‘knows.’ The airport has been left behind while the city has been booming over the years. A compromise as Laguindingan has been in the buzz for 22 years only to be opened today.
