The Christ Child visit tradition

My niece knocked and entered my room early today and told me that the Baby Jesus has arrived. I just then remembered that come Christmas day, we usually do one of our traditions that we still observe even way back when I was still a child. My grandmother used to call us together when the sound of the bell is heard and when the group of sacristans then arrive at the house carrying the perfumed image of the Christ child, we all line up to kiss.

That was then. Now, with my grandmother gone, we still do the same tradition. But something is amiss. The image is a bit smaller. The perfume is just a trace whereas before, it was quite strong that it stuck to the nose. Well, times do have changed.
