Ida at the Paoay sand dunes

Ida climbing the soft sands in Suba, Paoay, Ilocos Norte

I just like this photo. The utter simplicity of the composition, the two toned colors dominating most of the image and the seeming movement of Ida, the subject, struggling to climb the soft sandy hill just captured my eye.

Don’t you think the subject is too centered and too far? The composition is taking away the inherent tension of the woman struggling up the hill. My two cents :)

pre, thanx for your comment. personally, the person is really not that important that I need to go closer as well as follow strict compositional rules. i want to see her amidst her environment.

“The person is really not that important” — but you said Ida was your subject.

Anyway, my comment is not about following strict compositional rules. It’s about taking the inherent story of the situation and reinforcing it visually :)

i am amazed at the starkness of the light. i sympathize with the “struggle” she seems to be going through. i like feel of the sand–as if i too were struggling with her…I enjoyed the photo. beautiful work, estan!

      hi mike,

thanx but is it related to the camera being used? I would rather not say it that way. :)
