Portrait studies 19: Lakbay Norte delegates

Friday, January 29th, 2010

For the past five days, I’ve been on the road with other media people who write or blog about traveling in the Philippines upon the invitation of the North Philippines Visitors’ Bureau, the organizer of the media tour to explore and experience what this part of the country offers. From Manila, we headed to Cagayan province, rounded off the Ilocos provinces, Baguio City and Benguet and on to Pangasinan, Tarlac and Pampanga.

While waiting for the 4×4 vehicles for our rendezvous at the sand dunes of Suba, Ilocos Norte, I was able to take these portraits of some of the delegates.

A Cebu jeepney, front view

I'm always amazed with Cebu's jeepneys. This one is no exception.

Many of Cebu’s jeepneys are really moving works of art, a showcase of the Cebuano’s talent. Another image in a previous post.

World Press Photo 2010's last day of submission

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Devotee praying before the tent where an image of the crucified Christ is ritually smoked. This is one image that forms part of one of my photo stories submitted for the World Press Photo 2010 contest

After much frustrations of submitting my photo stories for the World Press Photo 2010 contest, I’ve finally pressed the SUBMIT button and hoping that my photo stories will make it. This is the second time that I’ve participated in the contest and while there is nothing lost in submitting, I’m at least assured of having a copy of the catalog.

There were three photostories that I submitted for this year’s edition. One is under the Portraits section and two under Arts and Entertainment. While I’m not so keen of making it, I’m always ready for surprises. Hehehe

For those who have registered previously and had their login and password emailed, today is the last day of the extended submission. Prepare those images before thoe contest closes at 2359H, 17 January 10, Central European Time.
